Id Server Streaming Using Peer to Peer Protocols

In recent years, Video Streaming has undoubtedly taken up major chunk of bandwidths in Internet. This can be attributed to several streaming sites that have become very popular [1, 2]. But, in today's high demand for multimedia streaming, the high bandwidths provided from the server can become scarce quickly, making the server link a bottle neck. The more popular the server becomes, many more requests will come, exponentially increasing the demand for the server link. To address this, we propose an Intelligent-Dynamic Streaming Server (ID server) that maintains two partitions – Server Partition, Client Partition-at each client and uses Cooperative Sharing among the connected clients. Client Partition stores the requested data and Server Partition Stores videos probabilistically based on their popularity. Server partition can be updated when the traffic at server is below certain threshold. We show through simulations that this can out perform traditional Client-Server and Regular Peer to Peer Systems.
